CosmicAI’s Response to Federal RFI on AI Policy Ideas

In response to the White House’s request for a public comment on an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Plan for policy ideas (Federal Register), and with support from our NSF program officer and the president of AAS, the CosmicAI Executive Leadership committee submitted a response:

Federal support for AI development and application is imperative – in astronomy and beyond – to:

1. advance fundamental and applied interdisciplinary research about our Universe,

2. capitalize on our national investment in existing ground-based and space-based infrastructure and facilities,

3. train the next generation of leaders in science, engineering, technology, and math,

4. maintain US leadership and competitiveness in technological innovation and AI-driven scientific discovery.
